Opening the event, Ms. Lai Viet Anh, Deputy Director of the Vietnam E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency, said: “In recent years, Vietnam's e-commerce sector has achieved high growth. 2018 was recorded as a dynamic year for online business, with a growth rate of around 30%. If the growth rate in 2019 and 2020 continues at around 30%, then by 2020 the scale of the e-commerce retail market will reach about USD 13 billion, higher than the projection stated in the e-commerce development master plan for the 2016–2020 period.”

Sharing insights on the potential of e-commerce and offering great ideas to help businesses set new directions, the VOBF 2019 forum discussed four main topics:

• The first topic, titled “Online Shopping Boom,” discussed e-commerce market trends and strong expansion potential.
• The second topic, “Time Is Gold,” covered solutions and services supporting e-commerce in an era when many consumers want to receive their online orders within just a few hours.
• The third topic, “The Rise of AI,” was an opportunity to discuss the impact of technology, including artificial intelligence, on every business.
• The fourth topic, “Capital or Ideas,” helped online business entrepreneurs identify the deciding factor in this high-risk yet opportunity-filled journey to become Vietnam's next Unicorns.
